Meeting with the artist Thomas Auriol at the Morel ensemble - Historic Monument
The artist Thomas Auriol, currently in an artist residency, will present fragments of stories, experiences or anecdotes that are for him a pictorial engine. During this stay, I will seek to see the archipelago through the eyes of humans and animals encountered, observed. This undertaking, which is half-documentary, half-imaginary, will lead me to translate into images the singular relationship that everyone has with the landscape. How a body welcomes meteorological instability, the changing character of the sea, the blindness of mist. I will multiply the points of view mainly around Miquelon-Langlade, on foot, by bike, by boat and maybe by paragliding to have a more intimate knowledge of the territory. Observing the animals, inquiring with locals, a naturalist to discover their ecosystem, their habits will help me shift or reverse my gaze. Try to see what a tern sees, how it watches us. Collect the testimony of a sailor in the mist and rely on this experience to drag a painting from figuration to abstraction. "
