Aperçu

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Musée de la Percée du Bocage opens its doors for an exceptional weekend dedicated to the memory of the Liberation and the fighting in Normandy during the summer of 1944. Located in Saint-Martin-des-Besaces, the museum retraces the history of the decisive breakthrough led by the 11th British Armoured Division during Operation Bluecoat, which allowed to break the German front south of Caumont-l'Éventé. Through a living and documented museography, you will immerse yourself in the daily lives of soldiers and civilians caught up in the fighting of the Norman countryside. Not to be missed this year: 🔸 The exceptional presence of vintage vehicles, presented by passionate collectors: Jeep and other military vehicles allied will be exposed on the forecourt of the museum. 🔸 Meetings with volunteers and historians who work to preserve this living memory. 👉 A unique opportunity to discover or rediscover an emblematic place of memory, to dialogue with enthusiasts, and to share an intergenerational moment around our common history.
