EHD 2025 in Georgia

Aperçu

In 2025, the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia joins the European Heritage Days by granting the status of Intangible Cultural Heritage Monument to the building traditions of the Meskhetian Erdо-Gvirgviniani (crowned zenith window) hall-type dwelling.

The Darbazuli (hall-type) dwelling tradition fully reflects this year's theme of the European Heritage Days: "Architectural Heritage: A Window to the Past, A Door to the Future." The crown of the Meskhetian hall-type dwelling symbolically represents a window into our historical past... At the same time, the door of the dwelling - this is the path to the future!

The element emphasizes the continuous dialogue between past and future — it appreciates the art of ancestors and calls upon new generations to rediscover the universal wisdom treasured in cultural heritage.
