Guided Tour of the Historical Graffiti of the Church of Muro
On Friday, November 28th at 5:00 p.m., as part of the European Heritage Days in Muro 2025, a special guided tour will take place focusing on the foundational graffiti of the Parish Church of Muro.
These centuries-old markings, carved directly into the walls during the construction of the church, offer a unique window into its origins. They reveal the presence of the original builders, capturing their names, symbols, and even the small drawings and notes they made to pass the time while working. Through these inscriptions, we gain rare insight into the daily lives, concerns, and personalities of the people who physically shaped the building.
The tour will be led by Pedro Corredor, archaeologist and historian, who will explain the historical significance of these graffiti and how they help us understand the human side of the church’s construction.
The visit will take place at the Parish Church of Muro, with limited capacity for 15 participants. Registration is required by emailing patrimoni@vilademuro.net
