19th-Century Cemeteries, a New Funerary Typology: The Cemetery of Muro
As part of the European Heritage Days in Muro 2025, a conference will be held on Friday, November 28th at 7:30 p.m. focusing on the evolution of 19th-century cemeteries and the emergence of a new funerary typology. Under the title “19th-Century Cemeteries, a New Funerary Typology: The Cemetery of Muro”, historians Elisa Beneyto and Lluís Vidal will explore how these new burial spaces developed and the social, sanitary, and urban impact they generated.
During the talk, the speakers will delve into the specific case of the Muro Cemetery, highlighting its historical and architectural features as well as the context in which it was conceived and built.
The conference will take place in the L’Arpella Room of the Municipal Archive and is open to anyone interested in learning more about the town’s heritage history.
