School group of the City (type Jules Ferry) with two side gardens, the building is converted into a centre of contemporary art from 1982\\. The Institut d'art contemporain, Villeurbanne/Rhône-Alpes, took its current form in 1998 after the merger of the Frac Rhône-Alpes and the Nouveau Musée. In each new space, the Institute of Contemporary Art proposes four periods of exhibitions per year, accompanied by a program of cultural and artistic events with a unique character.
