Interactive webpage with 3D elements will introduce work, life and timeless ideas of Francis I. Stefan of Loraine, husband of the queen Maria Theresa. He might be in a shadow of Maria Theresa fame, but a true is, that he was very curious and well educated in natural sciences and also successful entrepreneur. His activities were across the Europe and together with his wife, Maria Theresa, had a huge impact on development of society in Central Europe. They made important reforms, based on Enlightenment ideas, especially in law, economy and education. The project will take place at Slovak national museum – Museum of History in Bratislava castle, where are representative premises of Francis I. He died before The premises were finished, so at least he could be presented there now via technology. Interactive webpage will combine elements of augmented reality, 3D visualizations, animation and interactive story. Visitor / user can explore a story of Francis I. Webpage will be available for the castle visitors through their mobile phones (via QR codes) and also for community on the internet. Text and story will be in Slovak and English language.

Maria Theresa is famous until now, for an example, in Bratislava is every year coronation ceremony. However behind every successful woman must stand a supportive spouse. Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor was more than that. He established several manufactures and took care of financial affairs. As an enthusiastic naturalist, he experimented in his own chemical laboratory, devoted himself to alchemy, collected minerals, tapestries and coins. Since Maria Theresa was a strict mother and busy with governance, Francis I. was the one, who took care of their 16 children. With a technology, word can be spread easily and in attractive way. Chosen technology, webpage, is very accessible and easy to share. We believe, that this educational platform could be used also by schools and educations centers across Europe. Content of the webpage Story will be told in a fresh 1.st person style. User will be in direct interaction with Francis I. by himself. He will show his representative premises and as he will accompany visitor / user, he will introduce himself and his story. From the historical sources we know, that Francis I. was easy going and jolly man. He had deep and nice relationship with his children, especially the oldest daughter Maria Anna to whom he introduced his passion towards art and science. We would like to introduce Francis I. in a very personal way and with a stress on his character. His lifestyle and attitude might be very close and inspirational to contemporary European. Our main audience is children and young people, who are familiar with technologies, however might not be that familiar with history.

European Dimension

We believe that what Europe unites is common history and modern values which are based on Age of Enlightenment. It is still important to educate about extraordinary persons, who´s decisions affected today´s European freedom, love for education and innovations.
