FOLK DANCING In our area, on the bank of River Jugla there is an ancient hillfort. For already more than eight centuries, Ropaži has been a stop for travellers, merchants and soldiers. After a long way, people made contacts by resting together, which involved also singing and dancing. As a nation, Latvians own a rich and priceless cultural heritage, our folklore, and Latvian folk dancing is a significant part of it. This is clearly demonstrated during the Latvian Song and Dance Festival when thousands of dancers perform as a whole. Each European nation has its own language, cultural heritage, flag and beliefs. Dancing can unite us all. Dancing brings together not only different generations, but also cultures and nations. Folk dancing means life to me. I have been dancing since I was two years old. Folk dancing has helped me find new friends and better understand human relations. When dancing, I am never alone and I am never on my own. I have been part of Ropaži Municipality dance troupe Cielaviņa for already seven years. Cielaviņa brings the reputation of Latvian traditional dancing near and far, and it is the pride of not only the dancers, but also of the entire region. I made my story as an animation, because I wanted to demonstrate the cultural heritage specific to Ropaži area, therefore in my short movie I used the costumes of our dance troupe and the song Čuči guli līgaviņa performed by Ropaži folklore ensemble Trejasmens. Dancing has its own language. Dance language is the rhythm and music that makes all of Europe to stand up and begin to dance, dance, dance... TAUTAS DEJA Mūsu novadā, Juglas upes krastā ir sens pilskalns. Ropaži jau vairāk kā astoņus gadu simtus ir bijusi pieturvieta ceļotājiem, tirgoņiem un karotājiem. Pēc garā ceļa cilvēki ir dibinājuši kontaktus, kopā atpūtušies - dziedājuši un dejojuši. Latviešu tautai pieder bagātīgs un nenovērtējams kultūras mantojums - folklora. Nozīmīga tās daļa ir latviešu tautas dejas. Tam apliecinājums ir Latviešu dziesmu un deju svētki, kad tūkstošiem dejotāju spēj apvienoties vienā veselumā. Katrai Eiropas tautai ir sava valoda, savs kultūras mantojums, savs karogs un pārliecība. Deja spēj vienot mūs visus. Dejā satiekas ne tikai dažādas paaudzes, bet arī dažādas kultūras, nācijas un tautas. Man tautas deja ir dzīve. Dejoju kopš divu gadu vecuma. Tautas dejas palīdz man atrast jaunus draugus, palīdz labāk izprast cilvēciskās attiecības. Dejojot, es nekad neesmu viena, nekad neesmu tikai pati par sevi. Kopā ar Ropažu novada deju kolektīvu “Cielaviņa” esmu izdejojusi jau septiņus gadus. “Cielaviņa” nes latviešu tautas dejas godu tuvākā un tālākā pasaulē un noteikti ir ne tikai visu dejotāju, bet arī novada lepnums. Savu stāstu es veidoju kā animāciju, jo vēlējos parādīt to kultūras mantojumu, kas ir raksturīgs Ropažu novadam, tapēc savā filmiņā es izmantoju mūsu deju kolektīva tērpus un Ropažu folkloras kopas “Trejasmens” dziesmu “Čuči guli līgaviņa”. Dejai ir sava valoda. Dejas valoda ir ritms un mūzika, kas liek piecelties kājās visai Eiropai un dejot, dejot, dejot…
