Milford House
Milford House is the home of the extraordinary McCrum family, one of Ulster’s leading linen manufacturing families. It is famous as the first house in Ireland to have hydroelectricity- it even had a proper waterfall in the dining room. It is world famous as the home of William McCrum who invented the penalty kick and from 1936 to 1965, it was home to Manor House School.
Discover stories of mass kidnappings, inventions which revolutionized the linen industry and letters to Stalin. The beautiful rooms in 3 Victoria Street, a working historic are filled with important works of art, family possessions including costumes, silver and porcelain. Tours are available throughout the day giving the opportunity to see behind the scenes conservation work that has been ongoing.
