"My cultural heritage - my present and future"
This is the story of the little creative and makers in the Archaeological Museum of N. Macedonia. The story follows children′s thoughts traveling to the past, with a clear vision of the future, of the importance of cultural heritage, to be preserved, correctly interpreted and to convey the message to future generations.
The action of the story takes place between the prehistoric artifacts who take us back to 6th millennium BC, yes 6th millennium BC, but our little archaeologists manage to paint their imaginary picture of how life was in the Neolithic each in their own unique and creative way, on the way that they experienced the story of our Neolithic ancestors.
The story takes us to social relations in the Neolithic communities, especially with families, where shaped by the interests of community survival and prosperity, awarding the woman a special social status. She was a powerful inspiration in the Neolithic sculptor who wanted to immortalize her spirit, especially her body. The role of the woman as a mother was linked with the cult of fertility, i.e. the so-called cult of the “Great Mother” (Magna Mater) Goddess, exemplified by the ceramic anthropomorphic representations on sacrificial altars. The iconography of this cult, with a symbiosis of the female body and the house, was unique in its original artistic expression that distinguishes the Macedonian Neolithic from other Neolithic cultures.
The educational workshop “My cultural heritage – my present and future” leads in the direction of the archeological museum′s efforts to raise awareness among children about the meaning of cultural heritage, get to know archeology as a science and create habits through which museums will be brought closer to the youngest.
The achieved results of the workshop held with these little geniuses, under the guidance of the educators, justify the sincerity and correctness of their choice to participate in the challenge called “Cultural Heritage”.
The end result shows that these children make a reliable basis for their future, as useful stakeholders in society and a reliable basis for our cultural heritage, for its protection and correct interpretation.
