A lo largo de la historia las imágenes han tenido una relación muy estrecha con la vida y la muerte. Desde las culturas más antiguas, hemos recurrido a ellas para paliar una ausencia o abordar un luto, creando esculturas y figuras capaces de sustituir al difunto y de albergar su presencia. En esta charla, que partirá del lejano Neolítico y llegará hasta nuestros días, conoceremos algunos de los casos más sorprendentes y llamativos en los que los límites entre la vida y las imágenes se vuelven difusos hasta prácticamente desaparecer. Una ocasión para reflexionar sobre el poder que aún hoy tienen las imágenes y cuya génesis se pierde entre los registros arqueológicos más lejanos en el tiempo.
 

Throughout history, images have had a very close relationship with life and death. From the most ancient cultures, we have resorted to them to mitigate an absence or to deal with a mourning, creating sculptures and figures capable of replacing the deceased and of harbouring their presence. In this talk, which will take us from the distant Neolithic period to the present day, we will learn about some of the most surprising and striking cases in which the boundaries between life and images become blurred to the point of practically disappearing. An opportunity to reflect on the power that images still have today and whose genesis is lost among the most distant archaeological records.
