Legarmendi es un espacio recuperado. Formó parte del frente en la Guerra de 1936, y por allí pasaron italianos y “camisas azules”, incluso un médico argentino. El año pasado, un grupo de arqueólogos de la UPV-EHU excavó trincheras y refugios en trabajo comunal con algunos ciudadanos. Legarmendi es mucho más que un espacio arqueológico robado por la guerra. Uniendo etimología y geología, descubriremos “el monte Legarren” y el caserío Legarregi, a punto de desaparecer. En el entorno han confluido los modos tradicionales de la explotación del bosque y el patrimonio oral: la ermita de Magdalena, las historias de cada caserío o la fuente milagrosa “Potzu”... Además aprovecharemos la jornada para organizar un encuentro por la tarde con especialistas y la comunidad de vecinos y vecinas de Berriatua donde se compartirán objetos del pasado y vivencias del presente.

Legarmendi is a recovered space. It was part of the front in the 1936 War, and Italians and "blue shirts" passed through it, including an Argentinian doctor. Last year, a group of archaeologists from the UPV-EHU excavated trenches and shelters in communal work with some citizens. Legarmendi is much more than an archaeological space stolen by the war. Combining etymology and geology, we will discover "Mount Legarren" and the Legarregi farmhouse, on the verge of disappearing. Traditional ways of exploiting the forest and the oral heritage have come together in the area: the hermitage of Magdalena, the stories of each hamlet or the miraculous "Potzu" spring... We will also take advantage of the day to organise an afternoon meeting with specialists and the community of neighbours of Berriatua where objects from the past and experiences of the present will be shared.
