Deirdre Ní Chonghaile is a writer, curator and musician from the Aran Islands. Her book Collecting Music in the Aran Islands: A Century of History and Practice (University of Wisconsin Press 2021) has been described as "one of the most important and fascinating books about Irish traditional music in recent memory." It won the 2021 Michael J. Durkan Prize for Books on Language and Culture from the American Conference for Irish Studies and was awarded a Special Commendation for the bi-annual NUI Irish Historical Research Prize 2023.
