Kelp ink making - as the process is quite lengthy we will have ink prepared already to use while we make a new batch of ink that would be ready to take home in jars by the end of the session. We will be drawing out the pigment using a boiling method and then playing with modifiers like liquid iron and copper to alter the shades and colour, as well as making our own binder for the ink, using carrageen seaweed. We will then put the ink to use on natural papers, inspired by the coastline, with shells and seaweeds on the table to draw and allow the imagination to flow. We will include a break with seaweed snacks prepared for participants to taste and drink.
