Wicklow’s Historic Graveyards: Connecting our Communities
Historic graveyards are rich repositories of our heritage and are widely dispersed throughout the county. With a wealth of cultural heritage derived from archaeological features, stone engraving, traditions, genealogical data and associated histories as well a thriving biodiversity these are sites of great community significance.
At this workshop Wicklow County Council Community Archaeology Service and Local Studies librarian will present on the significance of our historic graveyards in county Wicklow, highlight some recent community heritage recording projects and provide advice and guidance in how groups in Wicklow can research and share the stories of their own graveyard.
Wicklow Community Archaeology Service is an initiative of the Heritage Office of Wicklow through the County Heritage Plan. This project is co-funded by The Heritage Council. To contact our community archaeologist e mail yvonnewhitty@gmail.com
