Aperçu

Since the 1700s the Roscommon sheep grazed its native land and gained notoriety across the world for its size and quality of its wool. Sadly these attributes would herald its downfall, smaller sheep became more desirable and wool was no longer an important commodity. This sheep faced extinction, no longer to be found grazing on the land it emerged from.
Thankfully all was not lost and the breed is now being brought back from the brink by a dedicated group of breeders. Join us for an evening of talks, photograph displays and crafting with their wool. We are very grateful to Roscommon Heritage Office for their funding of this event
