The Quaker Burial Ground in Ballitore dating from circa 1743 is being restored and work commenced in April 2021. We are offering guided tours of this little gem and time capsule of history on the two Saturdays of Heritage Week. Access is across a beautiful meadow and you will learn the history of the burial ground and see graves of the Shackletons, the Leadbeaters, and Abel Strettel, one of the first Quaker settlers in Ballitore. The tours, lasting about 40 to 50 minutes, will be led by a qualified guide and historian and restricted to small numbers.
