Conference-visit on the history of Notre-Dame Cathedral and the bishops of Grenoble
The heart of the episcopal group founded in the 4th century, the present cathedral (13th century) contains unexpected treasures: the monumental ciborium, the tomb of the bishops, the chapel where Saint Hugh welcomed Saint Bruno, the frescoes of Abbé Guétal, the confessional of Abbé Pierre… Many famous figures are linked to its history: the dolphins of Viennese, the knight Bayard, Catherine de Medici, Molière, Stendhal, Napoleon III… In recent years, it has recovered one of its little-known ornaments: the Cloister of the Canons, still provided with its Romanesque capitals, and in which some of the oldest murals of the Isère have been uncovered.
