Discover the history of this chapel, an exact replica of the Santa Casa de Lorette in Italy. Built in 1651 by Duke Louis d'Arpajon, a legend surrounds its construction. In 1651, Duke Louis d'Arpajon, lord of the castle of Sévérac, had built this chapel in atonement for the death of his wife, Gloriande de Thémines, and to redeem the crimes of Jacquette de Clermont, his mother. He previously made a pilgrimage to Rome and the Santa Casa de Lorette in Italy. The Chapel of Our Lady of Loreto is the exact replica of the Santa Casa. Leaflet available at the tourist office- guided tour organized in summer. For the rest of the year, only the exterior of the chapel is visible. An association, «Les Amis de Notre Dame de Lorette» is working on its restoration.
