Aperçu

The Barry Haut mill has been used for flour production since the 15th century. Founded around 1500, renovated in 1870, then abandoned in 1948, it is restored in 1996 and open to visitors since. Following multiple owners over the years, it is the municipality viviézoise that recovers the property of the mill to revive it in 1994\\. An imposing restoration work was therefore undertaken. Claude Jouet with the association Les amis du moulin de Viviez is called for this mission. After a video projection on the history of the site, the mill is revealed to the visitor: the water of the Riou Viou, channeled a few hundred meters upstream of the mill, fall of 6 meters on the bucket wheel that operates a wheel and 2 pairs of wheels, one driven by a trough wheel, the other by a turbine (mechanical blutoirs driven by hydraulic force). The wheat gradually turns into flour, the visitor follows live the different stages.
