The castle of Fages, whose foundation dates back to the beginning of the thirteenth century, consists of two square houses. The whole is inscribed in a rampart hemmed by ditches; in an angle a small chapel is vaulted with star-shaped ribs. The architecture full of nobility despite the vicissitudes of history: it was burned twice, in 1567 and 1572\\. Most of the buildings date from the Renaissance (16th century) and the beginning of the 17th century. The pavilion built under Henry II presents a magnificent Renaissance architecture with mullioned bays between sculpted pilasters, machicoulis, mouldings interrupted by pediments of windows... By successive marriages, the castle passed from Fages to Monlezun, Montesquiou, Hautefort, Taillefer, Maillard, ... Want to know more? Come and see us!
