Neuenburg Castle is a place steeped in history. Former residence of the princes-abbots until the French Revolution, the castle became the first manufacture of the Region of Guebwiller during the industrial period. Built between 1338 and 1342, it experienced many mishaps (fire, looting and destruction). Transformed into a bourgeois villa by the Schlumberger family in 1820, it became after the Second World War the Normal School of teachers. Since 2019, the castle has been transformed into a Cultural and Tourist Centre and hosts within its premises the Centre for the Interpretation of Architecture and Heritage, the European Institute of Ceramic Arts and the Tourist Office.
