Aperçu

Rochefort-du-Gard is a charming village with picturesque streets. The old centre is dominated by the Castelas, a 12th-century Romanesque church that was remodelled in the 17th century. Leaving the heights that offer a breathtaking view of the plain and its vineyards with tasty wines, the walker can linger at the fountain of the Angel. A few steps away is the old Saint-Joseph Chapel built in the 18th century by Pierre Palejay, a notable figure of the city. Further on, the parish church of Saint-Bardulphe, built in the 19th century, surprises with its ornamental richness. In addition to these essential monuments of the history of the village, a whole small heritage testifies to the daily life of yesteryear: the wash house of the nineteenth century, the well of Pousqueyras, the fountains.
