The Museum of Fine Arts of Draguignan reopened on November 16, 2023 after a complete renovation that is worth a real renaissance. Little known until now because little loaned and published, the collections are based on the revolutionary seizures of the Var, donations and state deposits. Paintings, sculptures and works of art from the seventeenth to the twentieth century draw a journey built on a history of curiosity putting into space the question of the status of the object and collectionism between Provence, Paris and Italy, in a wing of a building whose reception function will be fully recovered. This former convent of Ursulines, located in the city center, was redeveloped in the eighteenth century for the bishop of Fréjus and then, a century later, transformed into a museum. Its renovation allowed to restore the distribution and the old decorations. The other wing houses an auditorium and spaces that host two temporary exhibitions a year.
