It was in 1880 that the parish priest of the time, François-Louis Bonnardel, laid the foundations of a new church in replacement of an old dilapidated and abandoned Romanesque church, located nearby. This new church was completed in 1883 and consecrated by Monseigneur PERRAUD in 1885\\. It was the result of a personal gift from the parish priest member of the family BONNARDEL, owner of the castle of CHASSIGNOLES. The history of this church is forever marked by the circumstances of the death of the patron priest, François-Louis BONNARDEL: on April 15, 1893, after negotiations of nearly ten years, the act allowing the exchange of the new church for the old one was finally concluded. The tired priest painfully signed it. On April 16, the old church collapsed suddenly, removing any argument from the last opponents of the exchange; on April 17 the bell had descended in haste to be installed in the new bell tower.
