Aperçu

In the eleventh century, Torcy was a small rural parish that had its church built. Over time, the village developed around this Romanesque church, whose belfry dates from the 14th century. It is sold as a national property on the 17 fructidor in the year XIII. Around 1850, it became the property of the Duport family, who donated it to the commune in 1860 on the condition that "this religious temple remains exclusively dedicated to Catholic worship". On March 25, 1957, a group of speleologists from Le Creusot led by Louis Lagrost removes an unsealed slab under the harmonium and appears to cover a crypt, according to the parish priest. They are then in front of a narrow staircase leading to a small crypt full of water in which is immersed a beautiful statue of the Virgin holding the child Jesus in her arms. Next to him lay a Saint-Antoine and a martyr Saint-Denis.
