Guided tour: "Discovery of the history of Gorze Abbey"
The village of Gorze formed around an abbey Benedictine based(established) in 749 by Chrodegang, bishop of Metz and adviser(councillor) of Pepin the Short. It is then a centre of spirituality where the monks developed the art of the plain chant, ancestor of the Gregorian chant. Of its period of prosperity and of prestige, Gorze kept(preserved) old(former) houses Renaissance and an abbey palace. Centered on the history(story) of the abbey seigniory of Gorze, the museum presents reproductions of manuscripts of the XIVth century - the legend of saint Clement - rooms(parts,plays) of local history(story) and diaporamas two devoted to Roman aqueduct and to monastic life.
