Admiral Amédéé-Anatole-Prosper Courbet marked the history of the French Navy during the last third of the 19th century. A child born in Abbeville, his action in the China Sea, and his death in office in 1885, made him a hero. France paid him a grandiose tribute at the time of his funeral and the erection of his memorial at Abbeville in 1890\\. This monument, recently renovated, will be decrypted during this visit.
