Discover the medieval underground of Castela!
Formed of a series of galleries and rooms dug at the iron peak, 142 meters long, the underground of the Castela is arranged in the old castle motte castrale of the Castela castle (13th century). It is the only underground refuge of the Tarn open to the visit, the largest of the 350 recorded in this department, in a state of exceptional conservation. The regularity of the walls and vaults, which creates such a special atmosphere, as well as the ingenious living and defense arrangements always leave the visitor admiring. In this unique place still reign many mysteries and great stories! It is said that a noble lady even forged a treasure there in the fifteenth century, the famous forger of Saint-Sulpice!
