Aperçu

The Municipal Archives are contemporary with the creation of the city council by Louis XI in 1475 and, for some financial documents, date back to Louis I, count, then Duke of Anjou (1351-1384). In the early 1980s, a Documentation Service was attached to the Municipal Archives, then a Photo Library in 1996\\. The organization of the service was modified in September 2018 by the creation of two entities: Heritage Archives and Living Archives, while the Documentation and Photo Library of Communication were attached to the internal Communication service. The Heritage Archives offer the public a heritage of: * more than 3 linear km of documents * an Angevine history library of 7,000 titles * 800,000 iconographic documents * 2,500 "souvenirs from Anjou" and objects of daily life They are located in the RU-Repaire Urbain, in the Jardin des Beaux-Arts. Access to the garden from rue du Musée, rue Toussaint (portal of the old abbey church) or 35 boulevard du Roi-René.
