The place and its history: an aqueduct dating from Roman times, emblem of the village According to a study carried out in 1991, the aqueduct dates from the Roman period for its oldest part. The use of bricks in the making of arches vaults allowed to remember a date of construction between 220 and 270 AD. The aqueduct is the emblem of the village and one of the only rural aqueduct built during the ancient period still in operation in Europe. However, this structure has been repaired throughout the centuries, extending the building to its current dimensions. Its origin and its primary utility are surrounded by mysteries. It could have been intended to feed a nearby Roman villa or an iron ore mining, irrigation of the valley or feeding the ancient village.
