"2,000 years of local history" Designed by local historian Michel Bourlet, the museum has existed since 1984\\. Next to the music school, it occupies a part of the former conciergerie of the Château de La Chevrette. Refurbished in 2012, the museum presents a new permanent exhibition organized around three major themes, religious life, economic and sociological evolution, the owners and illustrious guests of the great estates. Several rich estates had been established since the sixteenth century and lasted until the nineteenth century. Louise d'Epinay received in her salon the most illustrious men of the enlightenment, such as Rousseau or Diderot. The reputation of La Chevrette eclipsed that of other castles, such as La Barre, d'Ormesson, and Thibault de Soisy. Yet they were properties of high characters who also received celebrities of their time. Queen Anne of Austria, the young Louis XIV were received several times at Mourning.
