Cultural discovery trail: stories and places of memory of a village of Garonne!
Village on the banks of the Garonne, Lestiac-sur-Garonne owes its name to the verb «lester»: loading a boat. The site, played, from the Gallo-Roman era, a role in the river traffic between Toulouse and Bordeaux and still has a port (La Cale), whose paving dates from 1883\\. In the Middle Ages, the village developed around the Notre–Dame church, built in the 12th century and now included in the additional inventory of historic monuments. The following centuries will leave other interesting monuments: the Cappelanie farm and its circular tower (seventeenth century), beautiful facades of the eighteenth and nineteenth century, the mill of Pasquier (eighteenth century) and a wash house (formerly there existed 5). The town, which stretches between palus and wooded hillsides, has magnificent views of the river.
