Saint-Germain Island is known since the sixth century. It gathers several ancient islets with strange names: Chabanne Island, Grand Dauphin Island. Agricultural area until the beginning of the nineteenth century, it is then divided in two: the western part welcomes guinguettes and immigrant populations, while the eastern part industrialises before becoming the departmental park that we know.
