Discover the history of a castle built in 1850
Built in 1848, the castle «Sainte-Croix» is first a school farm, then a factory of chemical matches before being acquired, in 1864, by the family of German industrialists Adt, hence its name of «Château Adt». In Forbach, the latter had developed an important industrial activity in the form of paper or cardboard mache. After their expulsion in 1919, the castle was ceded, in 1923, to the family of Wendel, owner of the coal mines of Petite-Rosselle. The castle was transformed into a hospital. The hospital was enlarged many times. It was closed for good in 2014\\. Acquired by the Community of Agglomeration of Forbach, the castle hosts since June 2019 the conservatory of music and dance.
