Heritage visit of Châteauvallon
Châteauvallon has more than 50 years of history… In 1964, in a pine forest typical of the Mediterranean landscapes that dominates the sea, the painter and sculptor Henri Komatis and Gérard Paquet, journalist, discover a forgotten country house of the sixteenth century. They decided to create a place dedicated to creation, arts and thought. Work began the following year with the construction of the outdoor amphitheatre with the help of hundreds of volunteers. Quickly, two festivals marked the history of Châteauvallon, the jazz festival in 1970 broadcast live on television and radio, and the Festival de danse contemporaine internationale in 1980\\. 1987 marks the creation of the TNDI, Théâtre National de la Danse et de l'Image, under the direction of Gérard Paquet. In 1995, his frontal opposition to the new municipality Front National de Toulon led to legal proceedings and the dissolution of TNDI in 1998\\.
