Aperçu

The castle of Larra is a pleasure home built in 1743 for Jean-François de Tournier Vaillac, President at Mortier at the Parliament of Toulouse. The square building built on an Italian plan has twenty-five meters of side. It has four identical facades decorated with a central forebody and series of nine openings on two levels. The viewpoint planned from the construction was largely modified later. The interior layout consists of nine squares of equal size. The reception pieces are decorated with stucco by sculptor Jean Loubeau as well as fireplaces and marble fountains. The wrought iron railing of the staircase is the work of master locksmith Bernard Ortet. The salons are decorated with paintings of gallant scenes inspired by works by Boucher and Watteau. The gardens of the castle consist of grassy beds with terracotta ornaments and a wooded park with alleys converging to a central roundabout.
