The Abbey of Notre-Dame du Val is an old Cistercian abbey dating from 1125\\. It is the oldest Cistercian foundation in Île-de-France, built more than a century before the neighbouring abbeys of Royaumont and Maubuisson. Turned stone quarry and ruined in 1822 then in 1845, there are still several buildings including one of the most beautiful medieval monastic dormitories in France. A large number of personalities of the Middle Ages were buried there: knights, bishops, canons, constables and their wives. The Val Abbey has been listed as a historic monument since 1947 for the monks' building, and since 1965 for the other buildings. The domain of a hundred and twenty hectares at the edge of the forest of L'Isle-Adam is a site registered since 1950\\. Since the 1950s, the site has been used as filming locations for music videos and films.
