Masterpiece of the concept of the "Radiant City" of Monsieur Le Corbusier. Mr. Le Corbusier’s housing unit was built in the 1950s as a vertical village. Its 337 apartments, mostly duplex, are designed as individual houses equipped "ready-to-live", inserted in a three-dimensional structure, isolated phonically from each other, benefit from "extensions-of-the-home" judicious, important and practical: nursery school, gymnasium, paddling pool, outdoor theatre, hotel, bar, local shops, offices, tennis, large public garden... The facades and roofs are classified as Historical Monuments. By its volume and its prospects, it represents a prototype of successful social housing, fully using the techniques of modern architecture.
