Aperçu

This 18th century chartreuse is organized around a courtyard of honour in «U» and was raised of one floor, during the Second Empire. As an extension of this castle, there is today the Jacques Ellul media library, of contemporary architecture, with a bold folded roof in «shed». These two buildings harmonize perfectly in the heart of this old vineyard and demonstrate that architecture is an art that has no age. The Historial set up at the Castle of Camponac evokes with its objects and authentic documents the major stages of the evolution of the commune of Pessac. Raphaël Saint-Orens, a local historian, had published the history of the commune and collected numerous objects, witnesses of the past. The Historial is managed by the Association of Memory Smugglers of Pessac.
