Aperçu

Small market town, close to major sites such as the Viaduc de Millau, the abbey of Sylvanes and the rougier of Camarès, Vabres-l'Abbaye is a village deeply marked by its history. The heart of the village, whose streets around the cathedral are made of old period buildings, reveals footprints still visible today. The aldermen’s house and the commander’s house are still inhabited. The chapel of the Hermitage, the vegetable gardens maintained by the Benedictine monks, the episcopal palace, the cathedral listed as a historical monument are all places evoking a past rich in history. Over time, several subdivisions have emerged around the village center: Le Coustel, Le Mas de Gantou, Les Condamines, and L'Estindillac which is currently under construction.
