Aperçu

The history of La Garenne Castle is little known. It is known that this seigneury was at the end of the sixteenth century the property of the Villeneuve Laspoix family, which it subsequently passed into the hands of Jean de Liniers. In the 18th century, La Garenne was the domain of the Vieilban de la Porte family who kept it until the middle of the 19th century. The house is a rectangular construction that rises at the bottom of the square courtyard on which rest the outbuildings placed in return of square, thus forming the courtyard of honor. The left wing on the north side houses a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary and Saint Dominic. The south wing houses a bread oven, a pastry oven and a dovecote. This complex is surrounded by water moats all year round and a park with centuries-old trees. Originally, the entire frame was to be surrounded by 4 towers, two of them currently partly aralised are still visible and have the particularity of being in the shape of a spur.
