It is from 1270 that began the long construction of the current church of Soultz, on the very site of the old. At the dawn of the fourteenth century, work continued with the transept, its north and south arms, and its central square, which allowed to refine the silhouette of the building. The windows of the transept are primitive, and the two enfeus established at their base, dating from before 1310, reveal the history of the nobles of Pfaffenheim. The great sacristy dates from the 15th century. It is overlooked by a large ribbed vault quite complex, on a plan of four stars with six branches. In 1489, will be added the last western bay, under the authority of Robert of Bavaria, lord bishop of Strasbourg from 1471 to 1478\\. The church proved too small for the population of the city. It is in this last bay that came to stay a first organ around 1600, replaced in 1750 by the magnificent instrument created by Jean-André Silbermann and his brothers.
