Aperçu

Come and meet the extinct species, get acquainted with the first inhabitants of the Mâconnais, Neanderthals or Homo sapiens, who settled under the rocks of Solutré and Vergisson. Discover their tools, their environment, and the legend of horses rushed from the top of the Rock. A reference site for the Solutréenne culture (-21,000 to -18,000), the elegant tips called laurel leaves testify to the ability of flint cutters to the coldest of the last glaciation. The excavation site is now an Archaeological and Botanical Garden that invites you to discover a remarkable environment while retracing 150 years of research that has written the History of prehistory!
