The Musée départemental de Préhistoire d'Île-de-France designed by architect Roland Simounet is found at Nemours, in the heart of a picturesque forest with numerous prehistoric sites. The museum retraces the major stages of Prehistory and Early History of the entire Île-de-France, and the first vestiges attesting to human presence (around 600,000 years ago) at the end of the Gallic period .
