Overview
The West Boat House was originally designed as a timber framed structure by AB MacDonald, the Glasgow City surveyor, and built in 1905 as a purpose-built boat house to house two clubs – Clydesdale Amateur Rowing Club and Clyde Amateur Rowing Club.
Unfortunately, the building suffered significant decay, especially below ground where 28 of the 30 original timber poles were found to have rotted through.
After many years of planning and fund raising, the building went through a major renovation and refurbishment program starting in 2019, culminating in a grand reopening in May 2023.
Only limited vehicular access to Glasgow Green.
There is a lift to the first floor, and both ground and first floors are free from steps
