The Garioch Heritage Centre sits in the renovated Carriage and Wagon Workshop; part of the former Inverurie Locomotive Works an important historic building in the area. Closed in 1969, it now has a new lease of life as home for our collections.
The Centre tells the story of life in the Garioch from the early 20th century to the present day, shedding light on the domestic and working lives of local people.
There is a gift shop, a café and activities to amuse younger visitors. Enjoy a guided tour with experienced volunteers and hear about growing up in the Garioch. Visitors can research local history and browse the Society’s extensive collection of photographs and archive material in the library.
Come and visit The Garioch Heritage Centre and get that little bit of extra insight into the past. There will be specialist guides who share their personal reminiscences. You will also get an opportunity to see interesting artefacts and period costumes from our collection, not on permanent display in our gallery.
