Braemar Castle
20 September 2025 (10:00 - 17:00)
Braemar Castle, built in 1628, is not only a striking Aberdeenshire stronghold, it’s also Scotland’s first community-run castle, lovingly cared for by locals who keep its story alive.
Step inside and uncover centuries of intrigue, from clan chiefs and Jacobite rebellions to the marching redcoats who once garrisoned its rooms. Meet the glamorous Frances Farquharson and her husband Alwyn, whose vision and charisma turned Braemar from a quiet village into a vibrant escape for the elite.
With every stone steeped in history and every room echoing tales of transformation, Braemar Castle invites you to experience a place where past meets present and where community truly makes history.
On the day there will be tour guides, exhibition, children’s story telling and a new gift shop.
