Discovery of the rehabilitation project of the former tannery Plauchud by the cooperative Le Moulon
At the time of rethinking the foundations of our society in the face of the economic crisis and global warming, it seems essential to us to re-examine our relationship with territory and heritage, to reinvent our ways of moving around, working, producing, to consume and live together. It is with this in mind that SCIC Le Moulon has imagined its project for the rehabilitation and transformation of the old Plauchud tannery in Barjols, an emblematic industrial wasteland of the village. Enjoying a remarkable setting, in the heart of green Provence, in the countryside but on the edge of village, only 1h15 from Marseille and Aix and 1h from Toulon, this former factory of 4500m2 deploys an interior space and enormous volumes, but also an adjoining garden of 5000m2 at the end of which is a waterfall. With the Moulon project, it will become a place of life, meeting, sharing and exchange where the inhabitants of the place, those of the village and surrounding villages, but also a varied panel of people from elsewhere in France, in Europe and in the world, will meet. The Moulon project revolves around several dimensions:
- Participatory housing
- Shared work and activities
- Public reception
- Training
- Social and cultural activities. Ecology is one of the pillars of the project, as well as the development of collective and solidarity-based dynamics in connection with the territory and beyond. Program: Saturday, September 20, from 10 am to 4 pm
- Access to the tannery garden from 10 am.
- 11h and 14h: Guided tours
- 11h and 14h: Stamp making workshops around the theme of heritage, home and living together. Proposed in partnership with the association Beyond the forest, led by Lucile Camus, artist and art therapist. For adults and children from 5 years old.
- La Dalle en Pente, a local and vegetarian association canteen of the L'Entretoise association, will be used to eat and drink in the garden, to take the time to taste and refresh yourself before or after the visit.
- A dry stone construction training in the old tannery garden will end that day. It will be an opportunity to observe the participants in the work and techniques of dry stone wall restoration.
- The association L'Entretoise will offer listening to the podcasts made by Tessa Bazin on the Moulon project, as well as the heritage podcasts created by a group of teenagers during a summer internship with Tessa. Attention: the site will be open on Saturday only. No opening to the public on Sunday 21. The entrance is through the impasse of Fauvery, through the garden, following the signs for the sloping slab. Parking is possible in the impasse du Fauvery or higher in the village. For the moment unfortunately we do not have a wheelchair accessible path, because there are steps on the beginning of the garden path. If people in wheelchairs wish to come, please let us know your arrival so that we can help you cross these steps.
