Conferences

For this 2025 edition, the CAUE of the Dordogne and its partners honor the village of Rouffignac-Saint-Cernin-de-Reilhac and the castle of Herm around the theme of reconstruction and restoration of heritage. On March 31, 1944, Rouffignac was burned by the Brehmer division, destroying almost the entire village except for the church and some houses. These conferences will come back on this tragic episode, the reconstruction of the town and the exceptional renaissance of the castle of Herm, restored identically thanks to the mobilization of architecture and history enthusiasts, of high quality artisans and the support of the Heritage Foundation which, through its missions, mobilizes donors and volunteers. They will also allow to discover the work done by schoolchildren as part of the operation "Les enfants du Patrimoine", led the day before by a landscape gardener from CAUE24. Conferences:
  • The missions of the Heritage Foundation, Patrick Palem, departmental delegate
  • Rouffignac: war damage, reconstruction and spared heritage, Line Becker, research officer at the Collections and Heritage Sites Service and Nicolas Cournil, conservation attaché at the Departmental Archives of the Dordogne,
  • The Restoration of the Château de l'Herm, Nicolas de Laâge de Meux, owner of the castle
  • Feedback on the educational intervention «Children of heritage», Aurélie Brunat, landscape gardener at CAUE24
